Fit For Performance :
Both CD and DVD are made from a special polycarbonate, developed for optical dics. In the case of the disc substrate coined into the disc substrate are substantially smaller than on a CD and arranged together much more closely. The distance between tracks is smaller on the DVD than on CD.

CD & DVD are both 1.2mm thick . However, the DVD consists in principle two identical discs of 0.6 mm thickness, stuck together back to back . This increases the distortion resistance and thereby the scanning precision.
